This listing is for a very rare Machine Mount Oiler produced by the B&M Company of New York. The push button on the bottom of the can is marked B&M NY "PAT'D MAR. 6, 1866". This corresponds to U.S. Patent No. 52,959, granted to John Broughton for an improved "Oiler".
This item would have been mounted on large machinery such as Hit & Miss Steam Engines, or Locomotives of the period. The item is 2" wide at its largest circumference and 6" tall from base to Tip of Spout. The bottom is composed of Zinc and Pewter. It is clean and fully functional. Been sitting on a display shelf for the past 30+ years.
